Traverse City, MI – July 25, 2025—Skylar Wireman (USA) piloted Barclino B to a victory on home soil in the $32,000 Ingram Family CSIO3* Qualifier on Friday during Nations Cup week at Traverse City Horse Shows’ Great Lakes Equestrian Festival (GLEF), presented by B&D Builders.

The 11th season of GLEF features six weeks of FEI competition running through August 10, showcasing an FEI Nations Cup CSIO3*, the FEI North American Youth Championships, and the return of Major League Show Jumping CSI5* competition to Traverse City. Highlights also include the $100,000 USHJA World Championship Hunter Rider Central Spectacular and weekly qualifiers for the all-new $150,000 Traverse City Equitation Championships debuting in September.
From a stacked field of 43 competitors, Wireman was one of nine to advance to the tie-breaking jump-off built by course designer Nick Granat (USA). Returning last, the pressure was on, and Wireman rose to the occasion with her 9-year-old Holsteiner gelding. The 20-year-old stopped the short course clock at 37.10 seconds to take the victory and bump Canada’s Nicole Walker to second aboard Atout des Trambles (39.02 seconds). Conor Swail (IRL) rounded out the top three in 39.31 riding Qoreen van’t Ruytershof.

“It’s a very competitive week with the Nations Cup; we have a lot of top riders here from several countries so to have a big win this week is special for me,” said Wireman, who is building momentum for a bid at qualifying for the 2026 FEI World Cup™ Finals in Fort Worth, TX, which includes a hopeful appearance in the $340,000 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Traverse City during the Tournament of Champions this fall at Flintfields Horse Park.
“He really seems to like this ring here,” continued Wireman of the gelding that made his three-star debut in the Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel International Ring in 2024. “I think a lot of horses jump well here. I’ve loved it here, and it’s great to be on the lake during the summer.”
Wireman got the ride on Barclino B (Constanzehof’s Barcley x Lasino) after purchasing the gelding from Germany’s Kendra Brinkop, who also bred the horse.
“I was looking for one of our clients, but I tried him and really liked him,” explained Wireman of her first ride on Barclino B. “They weren’t planning to sell him at that time but we made a plan to purchase him—and they agreed—so he’s special. I knew he had talent and he really wants to be a winner.”
International jumping competition will come to a peak on Saturday during week four of GLEF with the $117,000 CSIO3* Traverse City Grand Prix.

Nick Haness and Cavaletto Loma Z Double Down in Traverse City
Hunters took to the Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel International Ring at Traverse City Horse Shows for an evening of elegance in the $25,000 Platinum Performance USHJA International Hunter Derby, presented by Copper Fox, on Friday. After claiming an international derby win during the Spring Series, Nick Haness of Temecula, CA, Cavaletto Loma Z once again led the victory gallop during the fourth week at the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival, presented by B&D Builders.

“Cavaletto Loma Z is a tremendous competitor,” said Haness. “I felt like I walked in the ring, picked up the gallop and kept on the pace the whole time. He followed my every command beautifully, landed every lead and kept on galloping. It was really a lot of fun.”
Competitors tackled a classic hunter course, followed by the top twelve returning for a handy test, both created by course designer Nick Granat of Palm Beach, FL. Haness returned for the handy leading on Cavaletto Loma Z, owned by West Coast Equine Partners.

The international derby was judged by two panels with Robin Swinderman Mitchell and Richard Slocum sitting on the first and Heidi Casciaro and Dana Wille on the second. They selected Cavaletto Loma Z the best of both rounds and combined scores of 184.5 from the classic and a 204 in the handy to total 388.5, which secured the win for Haness and the 11-year-old Chellano Alpha Z gelding.
In the irons of Golden Road, a 9-year-old Selle Français gelding by Cornet Obolensky, Haness combined a 181 and 191 for a 372 total and second place for owners John & Stephanie Ingram. Rounding out the podium placings, JJ Torano of Wellington, FL, piloted 11-year-old Tiara to a score of 365.5 for owner JBK Equine.
As he prepares for the Platinum Performance/USHJA International Hunter Derby Championship in Kentucky later this summer, Haness made a plan to show off Cavaletto Loma Z in Friday’s international derby. “He’s such a cool horse to ride, especially in the handy,” he said of the gelding that previously competed as a jumper. “The gallop is his preferred method of travel—and mine. The more you challenge him, the better he is and the higher he jumps.”
In addition to the win, Cavaletto Loma Z was named the Platinum Performance Hunter Horse of the Week for GLEF IV.
