Traverse City, MI (November 16, 2023) — In a significant milestone, Traverse City Horse Shows (TCHS) proudly announces its successful bid to host the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Traverse City North American League (NAL) Qualifier. This marks the beginning of a four-year partnership, with the inaugural event scheduled for September 11-15, 2024, at Flintfields Horse Park.
“Securing this bid is a significant step for the TCHS team,” says Event Director Matt Morrissey. “We’re building a strong reputation with events like the American Gold Cup and the FEI North American Youth Championships. The addition of the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Traverse City not only elevates our global presence but firmly positions Traverse City at the fingertips of the world’s top athletes. It’s yet another unique opportunity for the community.
“We’ve put in substantial work at Flintfields Horse Park over the years, adding new footing, pavilions, and top-notch stabling,” Morrissey notes. “All this effort is about meeting the standards of events like the NAL. I’m genuinely excited to show everyone, both locals and visitors, what a great equestrian experience we have to offer.”
Over its first ten years, TCHS has been steadfast in its pursuit of being a hotspot for global equestrian excellence and uplifting equestrian sport by drawing premier athletes while also nurturing the next generation of talent. Securing a Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Qualifier reaffirms the organization’s dedication to expanding its role on an international stage and opens the door for unprecedented global exposure for Northern Michigan.
The NAL is comprised of eight qualifiers across North America in which top athletes will vie for a spot in the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Final. The Traverse City event is a qualifier for the 2025 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Final in Basel, Switzerland in April 2025 and is anticipated to attract an elite cohort of riders from across the globe. Traverse City notables such as Former FEI World Cup™ champion McLain Ward, Olympian Kent Farrington, reigning American Gold Cup champion Karl Cook, and rising star and Grand Prix winner Cathleen Driscoll are predicted to participate.
