Debbie Smith, Ltd. Pledges Support to Traverse City Horse Shows as Presenting Sponsor of $100,000 WCHR Central Hunter Spectacular
Traverse City, MI– May 10, 2023 – Debbie Smith, a lifelong horsewoman and avid competitor, has inked an agreement with Traverse City Horse Shows (TCHS) naming Debbie Smith, Ltd. the presenting sponsor of the $100,000 WCHR Central Hunter Spectacular, taking place on June 24 at Flintfields Horse Park.
Having had successful careers in the children’s and junior ranks to her credit, Smith has continued a passionate dedication to both competition and horse sport into adulthood. Numerous “Horse of the Year” titles grace her trophy case along with ribbons from coast to coast in the hunter and jumper rings. Smith’s desire to present the pinnacle event of the USHJA World Championship Hunter Rider (WCHR) Program at TCHS was born out of gratitude to an industry that has brought her much purpose and joy. Her namesake support will grace one of only three WCHR Hunter Spectaculars in the U.S.
“We as participating members of this sport are responsible for doing all that we can to support the things we love and hold dear to us and see that they continue once we are gone,” said Smith, who hails from Beverly Hills, FL. “It’s very special for me to be involved in the many facets of this industry, and I look forward to being a part of celebrating the hunter discipline at an elite level in Traverse City.”
The $100,000 WCHR Central Hunter Spectacular, presented by Debbie Smith, Ltd., will highlight competition on Saturday evening in the Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel International Ring during the final week of the Traverse City Spring Horse Show series. The event marks the third and final coveted Hunter Spectacular of the 2023 season after the East and West Coast editions were completed in Florida and California earlier this year. The derby-style event features a unique twist with juniors, amateurs and professionals all competing together at varying heights.
Celebrating hunter riders at all levels, the WCHR Central Hunter Spectacular, presented by Debbie Smith, Ltd., brings athletes one step closer to punching their qualifying tickets in respective WCHR Challenge categories to the Capital Challenge Horse Show, held each fall at Prince George’s Equestrian Center in Upper Marlboro, MD.
“This is what I love, and this [sponsorship] is what I can do to support the sport that has given me and my horses so much,” concluded Smith.
