Traverse City Horse Shows Welcomes Silver Oak Jumper Tournament Back to Flintfields Horse Park

Tournament of Champions to Highlight CSI3* Competition for Charitable Cause

For a third consecutive year, the Silver Oak Jumper Tournament (SOJT), presented by the Davis McCullough Foundation, will return to Traverse City Horse Shows (TCHS) during the 2022 Fall Tournament of Champions and run September 7 through 11. Established 10 years ago, SOJT is registered as a 501c3 charity and strives to support animal rescue efforts and equestrian disability causes.

The Silver Oak Jumper Tournament is the second  of three back-to-back weeks of FEI competition during the Tournament of Champions. “The Silver Oak Jumper Tournament was always intended to be a special, more gracious and rider-centric version of show jumping at the highest levels. Our multi-year relationship with Morrissey Management Group has proven there is no other management team and simply no other facility in North America where we can live up to those expectations,” said Jeff Papows, PhD, Chairman and Founder of SOJT. “This year will be no different. Our 501c3 mission supporting animal rescue and recovery of equestrians suffering spinal cord injuries is embraced by Traverse City Horse Shows every year. This is our home. There can be no other like it.”

In 2022, the SOJT will be supporting Danny & Ron’s Rescue and the Omega Horse Rescue & Rehabilitation Center. These organizations perfectly align with SOJT’s perennial presenting sponsor, the Davis McCullough Foundation and Victoria McCullough. McCullough  herself is responsible for thousands of horse rescues and adoptions otherwise destined for slaughter and spearheaded government efforts to effectively ban equine slaughter in the United States.

“The Silver Oak Jumper Tournament is one of the Nation’s top jumper shows, complete with attention to detail, quality at every turn and top sport. It could easily be renamed the Silver Heart Jumper Tournament, and I’m so proud to be involved. These are my very favorite charities,” said Victoria McCullough Chairwoman, Chesapeake Oil, and Chair of the Davis McCullough philanthropic foundation.

Additionally, SOJT will continue its steadfast support of the Kevin Babington Foundation (KF). KBF was created to provide funding and support for equestrians who sustain spinal injuries and was inspired by the continued recovery of Irish Olympian Kevin Babington after sustaining a spinal injury from a fall in 2019. In addition to providing financial assistance, the foundation also strives to educate riders, trainers and show organizers about the most current safety measures designed to reduce the risk of serious injuries which can occur while riding.

The SOJT Prize List will be announced soon and available at traversecityhorseshows.com.
