Ryan Michael Genn and Dieta Top the Field in $72,900 Grand Prix CSI2*

Traverse City, Mich. – June 21, 2020 – Prior to the conclusion of week one of the Traverse City Spring Horse Show, presented by Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel, at Flintfields Horse Park, a substantial share of prize money was up for grabs for challengers in the $72,900 Grand Prix CSI2* on Sunday afternoon. With four countries represented, the international field included athletes from Chile, Ireland, Germany and the United States, as well as Friday’s champion in the $36,600 Welcome Stake CSI2*, Jonathan Corrigan (IRL), and past grand prix winners in Traverse City. Jumping to the lead spot, Ryan Michael Genn (USA) and Shannon Reid’s Dieta grabbed victory by more than a full second in the jump-off, adding another top finish to their repertoire following a fourth-place finish in Friday’s Welcome Stake.

Always a force in both the hunter and jumper rings, David Beisel piloted his own The Boy Friend to a clear-cut championship in the Performance 3’6” Hunters, never falling below second place over the course of five classes.

Traverse City, Mich. – June 21, 2020 – The first week of the Traverse City Spring Horse Show, presented by Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel, concluded Sunday with an opportunity for hunter horses and riders to strut their stuff for a chance at prize money in the $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby. Leading the field from start to finish with scores in the mid-90s in both rounds of competition, Samantha Schaefer and Take 3 LLC’s Trademark secured a clear victory with a 10-point margin ahead of the next-closest pair. The luck stayed strong for the Schaefer sisters throughout the day as Madeline Schaefer and her own Checkmate won the $1,000 Voltaire Design Amateur-Owner Hunter Classic.
